But instead of slipping back into the life that almost took everything from him, Edgar found something unexpected — craft beer.
What started as a lifeline became a passion.
What started in garages and backyards became a movement.

Alex is the fire behind the food — and the heart behind the hospitality.
He built Boulevard Gastropub, Compton’s first-ever gastropub, proving that world‑class food and community pride can live in the same building. He didn’t just open a restaurant — he uplifted a neighborhood.

Now he brings that same passion to Beer Thug Brewpub. The smash burgers, the wings, the tacos — the flavors that hit every time — that’s Alex. He’s the one who makes the Brewpub feel warm, welcoming, and alive.
He’s not just a co‑founder. He’s the culinary engine driving the movement forward.
JEFF — THE BREWER, THE CRAFTSMAN, THE FLAVOR ARCHITECT
Jeff is the quiet force with decades of brewing in his hands.
He came up in the early South Bay craft‑beer scene — long brew days, manual systems, no shortcuts. He learned the craft the hard way, the right way. Before joining Beer Thug Brewpub, he brewed across Torrance and Gardena, helping shape the beer culture of the entire region.
Jeff became known as the brewer who could run a whole brewhouse solo — milling, mashing, boiling, fermenting, transferring, cleaning — all with precision and pride.
What makes Jeff special is simple: he’s a craftsman first. He cares about clean beer, tight process, and flavor that hits every time.
Now he brings all that mastery to Beer Thug Brewpub. Edgar dreams it — Jeff brews it. From crisp lagers to big hazies to wild experiments, he’s the one turning ideas into the beers that define who we are.
